Common Questions Surrounding Motorcycle Training
Motor-cyclists under 18 years of age with a Michigan driver's license are required to take a motorcycle safety course as well as anyone who fails the rider skills testtwice. A valid driver's license with a motorcycle endorsement (CY) is required to legally ride a motorcycle on Michigan roadways.
To register your motorcycle, you'll need to provide the following at your local SOS office:
- The completed and signed title.
- Your Michigan motorcycle license.
- Proof of MI motorcycle insurance.
- Payment for all applicable motorcycle registration fees and taxes.
YES - Liability Coverage. The State of Michigan requires that all motorcycle operators carry minimum liability coverage. The State of Michigan minimum requirements are $20,000 bodily injury, $40,000 each accident, and $10,000 property damage.
